2. Listed Startups Unlock Around ₹25,000 Crore for VC and PE Investors
Category: Startup / Investment
The Indian startup ecosystem has become a major channel for exits for venture capitalists and private equity funds. In the July-September 2026 quarter, investors have made around ₹25,000 crore worth of exits via block and bulk transactions through 18 listed new-age startups. Analysis of the data disclosed by NSE and BSE showed the involvement of some high-profile investors in these stake sales. They include SoftBank Group, Peak XV Partners, Elevation Capital, and Accel. The transactions reveal the growing tendency of India’s markets to provide liquidity to venture capitalists and private equity funds.
Rather than depending solely on acquisitions or secondary market transactions, investors can now monetise their investment after the startups join the public markets. It should be noted that these transactions are not necessarily complete exits. There is still a number of large institutions that hold substantial stakes in the companies they backed. The trend has an impact on India’s venture capital ecosystem since successful exits from public markets can enhance the ability of fund managers to return money to their investors and raise more funds in the future.

3. Indifi Reports ₹371 Crore Revenue in FY26 and Turns Profitable
Category: Fintech / Digital Lending
In a significant positive development for Indifi Technologies, the MSMEs-focused digital lending platform has made a profit for the first time since inception in FY26 due to a substantial change in its financial performance. The company’s operational revenue witnessed an insignificant increase to stand at roughly ₹371 crore in FY26 from about ₹360 crore in FY25. However, more importantly, Indifi has entered the profit bracket. The firm made a profit of roughly ₹5.2 crore in FY26 from a loss of nearly ₹45 crore last fiscal year.
One of the key reasons for this improvement was the decline in the company’s impairment expenses regarding financial instruments. There has been a notable fall in the company’s impairment expenses during the year. Indifi offers loans to small and medium-sized firms and operates in hundreds of cities across India. As per the company, it will continue to invest in technology, credit management, and artificial intelligence-led solutions. This move towards profit has come amid a changing focus for the digital lending space in India towards sustainable growth, credit quality, and controlled customer acquisition rather than just growing the loan book.

7. RBI’s Expected Credit Loss Framework to Come Into Effect From April 2027
Category: Banking / RBI
The Reserve Bank of India is set to introduce its Expected Credit Loss (ECL) framework from April 1, 2027, bringing a major change to how banks account for potential credit losses.
The new system is designed to make provisioning more forward-looking. Instead of waiting for credit losses to become evident, banks will be required to estimate expected losses based on the credit risk associated with their financial assets.
The framework follows a three-stage approach. Stage 1 involves recognition of 12-month expected credit losses. Assets that experience a significant increase in credit risk move into Stage 2, where lifetime expected credit losses are recognised. Stage 3 covers credit-impaired assets. The framework is expected to require banks to strengthen their data systems, credit-risk models, technology infrastructure and internal governance.
Importantly, the ECL framework does not eliminate the existing prudential NPA classification framework. The existing rules around asset classification will continue to operate alongside the new provisioning methodology. The RBI’s move is expected to bring India’s banking-sector provisioning practices closer to internationally used forward-looking credit-risk models.
